Dental Crowns and Bridges

The harmonious combination of aesthetics, health, and functionality: dental crowns and bridges will restore a natural and radiant smile to your face.

Dental Crowns: For a Wonderful Smile and Strong Teeth

Over the years, teeth can weaken, lose their function, become damaged or break (even if you already have a fixed prosthesis), or fall out. Additionally, natural teeth wear down over time, lose their shine, may darken or yellow, affecting the aesthetics of your smile and your entire face.

When it comes to oral health, any defect, whether minor or major, not only affects appearance but, in the long term, negatively impacts bite strength, chewing function, and speech, which overall affects quality of life.

Nowadays, as health and smile aesthetics become increasingly important, dental crowns (also known as caps, coverings, or dental shells) and dental bridges represent an ideal fixed prosthetic solution if you:

  • Are missing one or more teeth

  • Have damaged or weak teeth

  • Have an unaesthetic gap between your teeth

  • Want to improve the shape of your teeth and achieve a white, natural smile.

What Are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns, also known as dental caps, are fixed prosthetic devices that are applied:

  • Over a compromised natural tooth, or

  • On a dental implant in case of a missing natural tooth.

When to Opt for a Dental Bridge?

If you are missing multiple teeth, need to extract several teeth, or your natural teeth are worn and compromised, our dental prosthetics specialist may recommend installing a dental bridge. With a dental bridge made up of two or more connected crowns, we replace missing teeth and improve the appearance of compromised teeth.

Proprio come avviene per le corone, il ponte può essere applicato su un dente naturale o su un impianto.

Just like with crowns, a bridge can be applied to a natural tooth or an implant. If we apply the dental bridge on natural teeth, some of them will become so-called abutments or supports, and will need to be prepared (filed). If the distance and density of your teeth are insufficient or if you prefer not to file your natural teeth, we can also choose to fix dental bridges on implants.

Whatever your choice or problem, at Orto Nova we will find the best solution for your smile.

CAD/CAM Technology: Fast and Precise Manufacturing of Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges, like all other prosthetic devices, are custom-made in our dental laboratory, respecting the characteristics of your natural teeth.

CAD/CAM technology, i.e., computer-aided design/manufacturing, helps prosthodontists and dental technicians create more precise prosthetics that perfectly replicate the shape, size, and appearance of your natural teeth.

Additionally, Orto Nova’s CAD/CAM system speeds up the entire dental crown application process, from impression acquisition to placement of the final prosthesis, reducing the number of dental visits required.

High-Quality Materials for Perfect Results

At Orto Nova Dental Medicine Center, we make dental crowns using only top-quality materials and the most advanced CAD/CAM technology. The best material for crowns is chosen based on the problem and desired result.

Metal-Ceramic Crowns

These crowns have a core made of a metal alloy covered with ceramic. They offer satisfactory aesthetics, excellent strength and durability, and in certain cases are the best solution in terms of quality and price.

These crowns consist of a zirconia core coated with high-quality ceramic and are the ideal choice for patients seeking a natural and harmonious smile.

Metal-free zirconia-ceramic crowns are made using computer-assisted CAD/CAM technology, and smaller bridges (up to five units) can be fabricated in just three days.

Made from high-quality ceramic, these crowns are often chosen when a single crown needs to be placed on a natural tooth or implant.

The fabrication and application of this type of crown require a high level of expertise from both the dentist and the dental technician. At the Orto Nova laboratory, we can produce this type of crown in as little as one hour thanks to CAD/CAM technology.
